New Principal for The Patch Primary School

Posted on Friday 8, September 2023

Dear Community of the Patch Primary School,

I am pleased and honoured to announce that James Burnside has been appointed in the role of Principal at the Patch PS.

James presented with an energy that was infectious. His vision for the school excited us. His proven strength in building relationships with community, staff and children were in sync with the core ethos of The Patch. His work in improving educational outcomes for all, promoting student agency and individual growth aligned with our own goals as a school.

James’ passion for outdoor learning, sustainability practices and innovations as well as a strong focus on wellbeing, ensured he was the right person to lead The Patch into its next exciting chapter.

A selection panel made up of parents, staff and teaching professionals made the decision based on several closely monitored key guidelines. The Panel worked together to ensure that the right questions were asked and performed their due diligence regarding reference checks. Interviews were conducted professionally, many meetings were held, and even more conversations were had. I would like to personally thank every member for the time, commitment and extraordinary work that has allowed us to come to this decision.

James’ appointment is expected to be formalised in the coming weeks according to the Department of Education’s standard process, and we will keep you informed of any updates.

In the meantime I am delighted to welcome James (as I know the whole community will do and as only Patchies can), to The Patch.

Kind Regards

Ange Ellis

School Council President
